HAZAR ERGÜÇLÜ

 

Hazar is a Turkish-Cypriot actress, who studied theatre at the Halic University Conservatory. Her breakthrough performance was in the television series EBB AND TIDE, which was directed by Ali Bilgin. She became widely known in Turkey for playing the part of ‘Simay Canas’ in the drama series KUZEY GÜNEY. Her film work includes; ‘Ruhsar’ in the drama SHADOWS AND FACES; as ‘Sena’ in FULL OF HUNGER; as ‘Müzeyyen’ in Emre Erdoğdu’s SNOW; and playing the lead role of ‘Hatice’ in the film THE WILD PEAR TREE, which was directed by Palme d’Or-winning Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan. Hazar is perhaps best known to international audiences for portraying the leading role of ‘Zeynep’ in all four seasons of the hugely successful fantasy drama show THE PROTECTOR - which was Turkey’s first original series for Netflix. Her more recent work includes: the BBC drama series THE MALLORCA FILES; the lead role of ‘Çiçek’ in ALEV ALEV, which was directed by Ahmet Katiksiz; in Ömür Atay’s television drama SAKLI; the feature film thriller INSIDE directed by Bugra Gülsoy & Serhat Teoman; and as ‘Sümbül’ in the Netflix feature film HEARTSONG.
