LEVAN GELBAKHIANI

Levan began his acting career at an early age appearing in numerous school productions. At age 15, he decided to begin to formally study dance at the renowned Tbilisi State Vakhtang Chabukiani Ballet School in Georgia. Since his graduation, Levin has worked consistently with contemporary dance troops all across the country - and this ultimately led to him being cast in the lead role of ‘Merab’ in his debut feature film AND THEN WE DANCED. Directed by Levan Akin, the film was both a critical and box office success, and was selected as Sweden’s official submission for the Academy Awards. Levan’s unforgettable performance in it has seen him pick up awards and favourable reviews throughout Europe and beyond, including the Best Actor Award at the Odessa International Film Festival; and the main acting prize at Sarajevo International Film Festival. He was named by W magazine as one of the most exciting stars of Cannes in 2019, and was selected to be a European Shooting Star at Berlin International Film Festival. Most recently, Levan shot the lead role of ‘Jonah’ in the feature film drama DON'T LET THE SUN (CATCH YOU CRYING). Directed by Jacqueline Zünd, it is set for release in 2024.
